love covers (the sequel)
I am meeting today with an individual who is looking to help us expand and develop Love Covers in a bigger way in Cincinnati. Pray for us as we discuss ways to partner with knitting groups in the Cincinnati area who can contribute time and yarn to knit scarves we can hand out in Downtown and Greater Cincinnati. We also need to develop collection points where scarves can be dropped off each winter. I am excited to see this expand and look forward to the day when every homeless person in Cincinnati has a handmade scarf reminding them they are loved more than they know!
If you don’t know… Love Covers is our handmade scarf mission which helps cover the homeless of Cincinnati from the cold. In one way, we know it is just a scarf and there are plenty of other warm items we could give. But in another way, a handcrafted scarf is a gift of warmth and a gift of love. It tells someone, “this was made just for you and it’s threads are filled with love, care and the prayers of another human being who wants you to know that you are loved”. Each scarf is hand knit with a Love Covers tag sewn. Every scarf also comes with a printed card that says, Be Warm, Be Loved, Be Covered (in both english and español). The back of the cards are inscribed with 1 Peter 4:8.
So whether it is sin done to them or by them that have placed them in their current situation it doesn’t matter - they are loved, they are covered.
