do something
The problem in Haiti is continuing to grow as supplies are having a hard time finding there way to the people who need them. To make matters worse, the infrastructure in Haiti barely survived when things were “normal” but now that things are in utter chaos it is near impossible to use the old system in any way. Right now there are agencies and churches, governments and neighbors all trying to figure out how they can help the hurting, dying, and broken. But what about us? What about the people like you and me who live in the middle of Nowherenearhaiti? What can we do?
I think the simple answer is something.
Find a place to go and pack boxes.
Find a place to give money.
Find something.
Find anything.
You need to find something before you can do something and this is going to mean stepping out of your normal routine. Start making phone calls, sending emails and talking to people about what you can do. As the church the one thing you cannot do is nothing. I think that sometimes the problem just seems so huge that we end up doing the one thing we don’t want to do… the one thing we cannot do… which is nothing. If we do nothing we become nothing. Isn’t that what Paul is saying when he writes, “…and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”
So do something… anything.
The photos below are of Red Door students doing something this week working at Matthew 25, here in Cincinnati, packing up boxes to be shipped to Haiti this week.
A big thanks to Ronald Campbell who put everything together to get 14 students into the thick of it all on Friday. May God be glorified in packing boxes!
