PowerPlant
Hey Red Door, as some of you may know PowerPlant is in town this week. They have been super busy passing out our “Hi” cards with us around the UG. (Not to mention working their little booties off in this heat.) I walked around a little bit Monday and Thursday it was great to get to know some of them a little bit. Today, we are having our Day-O-Fun at Heritage Glen from 3-6. You guys should totally come and hang out with the PowerPlant team, the Heritage Glen kids and of course each other. We will have all kinds of pretty awesome games and activities. So bring the fam and come out from 3-6.

Saturday at Ashley House
We are at the Ashley Sisters House this Saturday from 10AM-6PM to start the work on their home. I am so excited that we get to spend some amazing time together while making a huge difference in the lives of these sisters. Jacob Shidler and I went by to their house tonight to get some estimates on paint and supplies and ran into some of the family who told us they were excited we will be there Saturday, and that they are planning on joining in with us too!!! How cool. We will have some time to just love on this family while pounding out some major work.
We will be breaking into 3 Work Crews for the day: (1) Paint Crew, (2) Scrape and Stain Crew, (3) Landscaping Crew. We will also be dividing the day into 2 halves of work. I would love for you to jump in for the whole day but even half a day will make a difference. We will also be eating lunch together around 12:30. It would be great to have as many of us there for lunch as possible.
Make sure you Sign Up if you plan on coming.
We will need supplies for the day, and the more you have (or can bring) the less we have to buy. All of the needed supplies are listed on the sign up form where you can pick what you are able to bring. Everyone should bring Gloves and a Scraper if possible.

Power Plant is in town…
Hey Red Door, I am really excited to see everything unfolding this week. We are passing out our Hello’s to our neighbors in the Fairfield / Forest Park area this week, and on Friday we are hosting a Day-O-Fun at Heritage Glen for the kids there. Friday will be a blast we would love to have you with us. It’s this easy…come to Heritage Glen Apartments from 3-6 on Friday and just hang out and love on some kids. Hey Red Door…we have another sort day coming up for ReThreads on July 10, 2010 from 10-3. That is this Saturday!!! We will be sorting and preparing the clothing for the Grand Opening on August 14th. Be apart of preparing a quality used clothing store for the forgotten of our city. We will meet at the ReThreads HQ. I hope to see you there. For those of you who have been with us over the past six months+ you know Kelsey has been leading us in worship. Kelsey is gifted with an amazing voice and a heart for the hurting and broken in our world. Both Kelsey and Tex (plays guitar) headed down to Haiti this past week to help with the relief work. Hey Red Door, Tuesday went great. There were literally heeps of clothing and we busted through it. Thank you for all who helped. We got completely through the first round of sorting. ReThreads Tomorrow
Hey Guys, this is Sarah again. Hopefully, everyone is enjoying this great weather. If you read the last post I wrote you know that we are currently involved with ReThreads. Just to update you a bit…to help out with the massive amount of clothing that needs to be sorted Red Door is going to help out with a sorting day. This Tuesday July 29, 2010 we are meeting up at the Underground at 9:45 AM to ride over to the ReThreads HQ (Fairfield Church of the Nazarene). Sorting is from 10-3, pack a lunch for the day or bring a couple of bucks to pitch in for the pizza. If you are not able to make it to this one no need to sweat you can always come to the next one on Saturday July 10, 2010 from 10-3.

ReThreads 101
Hey Guys this is Sarah, I just wanted to let you in on ReThreads…ReThreads is a new free store coming to serve the Fairfield Community. It’s purpose is to simply provide quality free shoes and clothing to those forgotten in our city. Fairfield is in desperate need of a place where the poor and forgotten of our city can come for free clothing they can be proud to wear…and we want to do this together. For the month of June Red Door will be participating in a clothing drive. We will be collecting quality gently used clothing and shoes. There is a special need for brand spankin new undies and socks. No one wants your used under garments…that’s just gross.
The Grand Opening is August 14, 2010. Each time we open it is a one day shopping experience for our community. We would love for you to join us in making this happen.
Here’s how you can get the clothes to us…
- drop off at any Red Door Gathering or Core Team Meeting
- drop off at any Fairfield schools
- send in via snail mail at P.O. Box 498112, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249
Here’s how you can get involved…
- Help us sort on either June 29th or July 10th
- Help us with the Grand Opening August 14th
